In 15 years, Bad Bunny went from a supermarket cashier in Puerto Rico to performing at the Super Bowl and winning a Grammy for the Best Album in America. It’s crazy to me how magical life can be. But underneath all that is some form of causality – each action has an effect and there must be actions (repeated over time) that make success inevitable. And then mix in the law of compounding and exponential increase….
I don’t think any one thing can guarantee success – there’s always going to be someone who works harder, who wants it more, who is more consistent etc. Success comes to some who haven’t worked hard at all and to some who have worked impressively hard. Success comes to those who didn’t even want it and those who desperately chase it. Not every Grammy winner dreamed of winning a Grammy but there’s got to be some who did. Success comes to one hit wonders and those who played all their life before getting recognition at their deathbed. In either case, there’s exception to every rule.
What I like thinking about is: what kind of things make success inevitable? How does someone attract the element of luck such that luck feels inevitable? The kind of luck and success that takes someone from PR to every tv screen in America in less than 15 years.
